Blinn College COVID-19 Protocols

At Blinn College, your health and safety are our top priorities. As part of that commitment to providing a healthy environment for you to learn and work, Blinn would like to share guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding next steps if you:

  • test positive for COVID-19,
  • are exposed to someone with COVID-19,
  • or experience COVID-19 symptoms.

As a reminder, pursuant to Governor Greg Abbott's Executive Order GA-38, Texas public entities, including institutions of higher education, cannot require the use of face masks on campuses.

Calculating Isolation

Day 0 is your first day of symptoms or a positive viral test. Day 1 is the first full day after your symptoms developed or your test specimen was collected.

If You Test Positive for COVID-19

Option 1

If you have mild or no symptoms, you must stay home for 5 days. After 5 days, you may end isolation when you have a negative COVID test and are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications. The CDC recommends that you wear a mask for 10 days following your first day of symptoms or a positive test. If you were moderately or severely ill, you must comply with Option 2.

Option 2

Stay home and isolate for 10 days. If your symptoms are gone and you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications after 10 days, you may end isolation.

If You Have Symptoms

Not Tested

Stay home and isolate yourself from others. You may end isolation if you test negative, your symptoms are improving, and you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If you are unable to take a test or test positive, you must follow the steps above under “If You Test Positive for COVID-19.”

Negative Test

Stay isolated from others until your symptoms improve and you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.

If You Are Exposed to Someone With COVID-19

Option 1

No quarantine is required unless you develop symptoms. The CDC recommends wearing a mask around others for 10 days. Consider getting tested on Day 5 and take precautions until day 10 by avoiding travel and being around people who are at high risk. If you develop symptoms, get tested and isolate immediately.

Option 2

Stay home and quarantine for 10 days after the last exposure. If you develop symptoms, get tested and isolate immediately.
